Get Your Czech Citizenship by Ancestry

If you have a Czech ancestor, such as a parent, grandparent or even great-grandparent, you may be eligible!

What is Czech Citizenship by Descent?

Czech citizenship by descent refers to the process of acquiring Czech nationality through family ancestors. Under Czech law, it is possible to apply for Czech citizenship if it can be shown that at least one of the parents or grandparents was a Czech citizen.

Czech citizenship gives you the opportunity to be part of a thriving and vibrant community in the Czech Republic, also known as Czechia. Take advantage of this opportunity and start your journey towards Czech citizenship today.

Who is Eligible for Czech Citizenship?

The Czech citizenship by descent law states that you may be eligible for Czech citizenship if you have at least one Czech parent or grandparent.

Czech citizenship can be accessed through parents or grandparents who are Czech citizens. It does not matter if you were born in the country or not, the Czech Republic does not take that into account.

In the event that only your father is Czech, and your parents are not married, your parents must submit a declaration confirming paternity. This can be done in the form of a DNA test or a court determination.

What Do I Need to Apply for Czech Citizenship?

To prove the ancestral link, you must demonstrate your relationship with your Czech parent or grandparent. This involves submitting documents such as the birth certificate of the ancestors, as well as other documents that can help to prove ancestry, depending on the specific situation.

You should also know that a birth certificate from the ancestor is not enough to prove citizenship. At least one passport from the ancestors is also required, and ideally other documents to prove citizenship.

With the help of our network of genealogists, we are able to search for documents to prove your Czech ancestry.
